Artist Statement
I like to look at humans and nature as a part of each other. I see humans as a fundamental component of nature, we are just another species in this ecosystem. This piece shows the similarities between us, demonstrating that saving nature is in itself saving a part of us, a part of us we need to survive. This piece is meant to represent the connection between humans and nature. I’ve made the images in black and white to rule out color disparities and show that at heart we are all connected. Being a person of color, I experience the world in a certain way, whether in school or other circumstances. But I am able to connect with people of all different backgrounds and bring people together. I think nature in itself is what brings us together.
