Hi! I am Ratang Sedimo, a first year Computer Science PhD student at the University of Vermont in Burlington, VT. At UVM, I am a member of the MaPLE Laboratory and am advised by Dr. Emma Tosch. My research interests lie in the areas of programming languages, computer security and data privacy. I am particularly interested in how these tools in computing can be successfully applied to economics and the field of data science. I am currently learning about causal inference and experimentation techniques.
I spent four years at Middlebury College (50 mins south of Burlington), where I majored in Economics. From Middlebury, I spent a year and some months at Johns Hopkins University getting an MSc in Financial Economics, before the pandemic put an abrupt stop to in-person learning. I have worked for an economic policy research institute and most recently in the investment management field, both jobs were in Botswana.
