After getting back from the long winter break, I’ve been excited to get back to my phenology spot to see what had changed since I’d left. Upon my return to the spot in Arthur Park, I had a lot more difficulty traversing the terrain as it is very steep and has been frosted over with some areas blanketed by a sheet of ice. The vegetation has only further deteriorated since my last visit.<\/p>\n\n\n

When we got down to the water, I was glad to step on the ice and have the confidence to run on it. The ice was very stable and provides a surface for all kinds of different wildlife to walk on in the winter. While we were on the ice, we found tracks for raccoon, otter, opossum, heron, and deer.<\/p>\n\n\n

Despite the coldest weather I’ve experienced and my hardest time getting down to my phenology spot, this visit had to be the most fun I’ve had on one of these. Despite the difficulty of getting down, it was a fun challenge as I already know the way down well from my past visits. It was also really nice to finally get to see inside of the sea caves and its beauty after all these months of visiting.<\/p>\n\n\n
