On Thursday, I got to see my phenology spot for the last time before the end of the semester. I arrived in my warmest outfit yet and made my way down to the Sea Caves. This was by far the hardest it has been to get to them as the ground was frosted over, making it easy to slip in the cold snow.

The foliage has changed here a lot since I came earlier in the fall. There are no longer leaves on the trees, except for the eastern hemlocks and other evergreens of the area. Small ferns and moss remain prevalent during the wintertime, continuing to grow on the ground and along rocks and trees. Decomposition is clear from the ocean of dead leaves that covers the ground, frostbitten by the snow that covers. I found a small hole I believe belongs to a small rodent in the area, other than this, there were no signs of animal life.
