In it, I discuss the difficulties the United States will face pressuring Pakistan on counterterrorism, due to the historical context of Pakistan&#8217;s counterterrorism policies. The piece draws on my book, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Islamic-Politics-Muslim-Counterterrorism-Tensions\/dp\/1107143225\/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1503605102&amp;sr=8-2&amp;keywords=peter+henne\"><em>Islamic Politics, Muslim States and Counterterrorism Tensions<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I also spoke recently with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.researchonreligion.org\/\">Research on Religion<\/a> podcast.
