I decided to bring my mom there when she came to Burlington and we really enjoyed the area. After getting to physically see the area, I knew that this was the spot I wanted to revisit. To get to Rock Point from UVM, you can take the bus to the stop right near the high school! You can also hop on the bike path towards North Beach 🙂 Personally I get on the 1 bus, connect to the 7, and then walk from the high school to the entrance of Rock Point! Past the school, the Diocese office, etc. until I hit the map shown of the trails! My hope is to take a different trail to the same spot each time I visit!

So….. what does Rock Point look like as a natural community?

Rock point is full of trees and vegetation! As we discussed in class there are a few different community types that you can see throughout the area. I’m going to be focusing on the area above the Champlain Thrust Fault and the Limestone Bluff Cedar-Pine Community of enriched soil.

Woody Plants

Eastern White Pine

Northern White Cedar

Eastern Hemlock

American Basswood

Sugar Maple

Herbaceous Vegetation

Walking Fern

Maidenhead Fern

Dutchman’s Breeches

Large-Flowered Trillium

10/17/2022 My Phenology Place is….
