Interesting to see this question, which is the inverse of what is most often asked (how does MPB affect fire severity). What would you expect to happen with MPB populations? Mortality at the highest severity sites (either directly or indirectly due to lack of resources)? Or would they be more likely to hone in on areas of lower severity where the resources they need are still available?
