Fall Updates

Since my last visit, more leaves from the deciduous trees have changed color and fallen from their branches. This was true especially for Red Oaks as many oak leaves are now covering the vegetation on the forest floor.

North Beach serves as a habitat for seagulls pictured above. On my last visit, they were cleaning themselves in the water using their beaks. These seagulls are most likely Ring-billed or Herring Gulls because they are the most common gull species in northern New England. During my next visit, I will make sure to check if they have a black ring around the tip of their beak which signifies a Ring-billed Gull. As winter approaches, these birds will begin to migrate to warmer habitats.
