It is the start of the second semester and it was so nice to be able to visit my Phenology Spot. The day I went it was very cold and snowing. Although there was a lot of snow on the ground and trees that didn’t stop me and my friends from visiting our spot in Centennial Woods. When walking through the woods I observed many animal tracks on the sides of the trail. This was my first time observing animal tracks and learning how to identify them. It was a lot of fun to learn this new skill. Some tracks we observed were rabbit and squirrel tracks. I did not see any of these animals but it was cool to observe the traces they left behind.

When observing my spot I noticed many phenological changes. Some that stood out to me are the trees and the cattail change. The trees are dead and are covered in snow. Furthermore, the snow has weighted down the cattails which has caused them to die. Although they died, it provides a habitat for invertebrates in the stream. By the time spring is arriving and the snow has melted, they will regrow for the new season.
