This includes the <strong>ovule, style , <\/strong>and <strong>stigma<\/strong>. Where female gametes are produced<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>E: <strong>Pistil: <\/strong>the male part of the flower. Includes the <strong>anther <\/strong>and <strong>filament.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-OTk3GaFqW0s\/Uy5zngHj0pI\/AAAAAAAADNE\/hTt7QlwWJQk\/s1600\/try+this+2.jpg\" alt=\"#109 Formation of seed, conditions affecting germination | Biology ...\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Diagram of a bean plant flower<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In my bean plant, the flowers are a blue\/purple and look like they should be insect pollinated: but they aren&#8217;t! They are actually <strong>self pollinating<\/strong>. When the flowers open, the <strong>anthers <\/strong>(where the pollen is) brush against the <strong>stigma <\/strong>(where the pollen needs to go to get to the egg). Cross-pollination is very rare!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-primary-lightgreen-lighter-10-background-color has-background\">The entire plant is leaning right now, I think it&#8217;s because it&#8217;s following the sun, so I moved it to more direct light. That&#8217;s an example of <strong>phototropism<\/strong>. Another tropism is <strong>geotropism<\/strong>: shoots grow up towards the sky and roots grow down towards the ground, regardless of orientation in response to the force of gravity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-white-color has-primary-lightgreen-darker-20-background-color has-text-color has-background\">This is the last update on my bean. Very much a wild rollercoaster of events. Truly enjoyed the experience. Now that this project is over, I will be sinking my pearly whites into the fruits on my bean plant, and enjoying a delicious snack.
