Workshop Modules

Technology Orientation

This module will introduce you to the software packages and IT infrastructure at UVM that will be used during the workshop. Module data can be downloaded at the beginning of each module in Rise 360 (via the link above).

Train Derailment Mapping

This module will introduce the end-to-end workflow for photogrammetric mapping and sharing of a train derailment scenario. Software packages used are Pix4Dreact, ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.

Rock Slope 3D Modeling

This module introduces concepts of generating and analyzing a 3D model of a rock slope near a roadway. The software package used is Pix4Dmapper.

Construction Monitoring

This module will focuses on photogrammetric mapping of a new roadway construction, comparison to historical geospatial data, and GIS analysis. Software packages used are ESRI DRone2Map and ArcGIS Pro.

Volume Estimation

This module covers the process of generating 3D models using photogrammetry in order to calculate stockpile volumes. These principles can also be applied to calculating volume loss due to wash-out or erosion along road corridors. Software packages used are Pix4Dmapper, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Online.

Coastal Change Monitoring

This module covers the end-to-end workflow of flight planning, data capture, processing, and analyzing coastal change. Software packages used are Pix4Dmapper, ArcGIS Pro, and eMotion3.

Multispectral Mapping

This module introduces the planning, collection, processing and analysis of multispectral imagery to quantify the growth of aquatic invasive species. Software packages used are Pix4Dmapper, ArcGIS Pro, and eMotion3 .

Woody Debris Mapping

This module provides an end-to-end exercise on quantifying the change in woody debris in a stream corridor following a storm using UAS imagery. Software packages used are Pix4Dmapper, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and eMotion3 .
