the leaves seem to be hitting peak fall currently. i spotted a few squirrels getting chubby for winter, but nothing out of the ordinary. it’s much colder this time. my hands were freezing and i wished i brought gloves. the wind hit me very strongly, especially being so close to the lake.
introduction
i chose oakledge park to try to get myself to explore burlington more than just uvm’s campus and church street. i wanted to challenge myself to get out there and oakledge park is the perfect place to do it. i parked in the parking lot and walked past the tennis courts and one of the small playgrounds onto the trail. i turned left at the trail and kept walking along the waters edge. i found 2 perfect trees to put my hammock in between with a gorgeous view of lake champlain. the roots all around me stuck up from tall trees. there was clear evidence of human impact with some graffiti-ed rocks around me as well as some old bottles and trash. not too far from me there was an old oven made out of bricks with graffiti on it as well. surrounding me are trees, mostly pines.
