I found what I believe to be rabbit tracks. Rabbits live in dens underground during the winter. What it does during the day is things like forage for food, get water, groom itself, etc. At night rabbits generally sleep but they can be active until sunset. Rabbits in the warmer parts of the year eat things like grasses and flowers, but in winter months they eat buds off of seedlings and twigs. The predators of rabbits are essentially any large predator.

If you look at figure one you will see tracks that I believe belong to a rabbit. The tracks match the pattern that is given in the tracking guide. If you look at figure two you will see the rabbit tracks that lead right up to a bush. I believe the rabbit was eating some of the buds off of the bush because there looked to be some teeth marks and this is something rabbits eat. If you look at figure three you will see a hole that may or may not be the rabbits home. There are tracks that go by it but not in to it, however it was snowing and late morning when I went out so they could have been covered. In figure four you will see the rabbit tracks lead down to the water. I think the rabbit was getting a drink because rabbits need water to survive.

I didn’t really notice any phenological changes except that there was a little bit less snow on the ground.

P.S I saw an absolutely beautiful northern cardinal. I was unable to get a picture because it was too far away and the picture did not capture its beauty.
