Today was my first time going back to my site since the Vernal Equinox and the songs of the countless birds that have returned made it clear that life was back. The first bird I saw was a pileated Woodpecker, I watched as he hopped along the limbs of a tall white oak. I tried to get a photo but the zoom on my phone made it difficult for me to get a clear shot.

It might be hard to see but on the right side of the screen on the wavy branch of the tree you can see the woodpecker move.

Besides the chirps and whistling of the newly arrived birds there was other signs that the forest was experiencing new life.

Im not completely sure what kind of twig this is. It could possible be an American Beech bud starting to swell and creating new leaves for the upcoming months of sunshine.

Deer Scat I found at my site.

I also walked father into the woods near the creak to look for signs of amphibians but it was pretty cold out and there was a thin cover of ice on the creek so I could not see any signs of amphibians.

In this video if you listen closely you can hear the sounds of the birds. At the end you can hear the screech and see a larger bird which I think is some type of bird of prey like a Hawk
