October 16, 2023- I found my site by entering Centennial woods from the opening that displays the green sign. You continue going straight, crossing the bridge that goes over the brook. Once you enter the large opening surround by pines you take the right that leads up the steep hill. You continue on this path until you come to my site which is when the hill starts to slope down. The path is on a ridge with slopes on either side. I shooed this spot because I liked how from the top you could look down into the site. I also liked how quiet and peaceful it was out here.

The site I chose
There wasn’t much vegetation on the ground besides the occasional wood Fern scattered around. The trees consisted of Eastern Hemlock, Northern White Pine, Sugar Maples, and Northern Red Oak. The sugar maple and Red Oak leaves were both starting to change color (mainly yellow and orange, with some that were bright red). This site was quiet besides the chirping of birds in the distance didn’t get a chance to see any. I wasn’t completely alone as two flat backed millipedes were clinging to the trunk of a Eastern hemlock.

On the trunk of a dead standing tree there was lots of white Turkey Tail fungus.
