Phenology Blog 12/9/23

At my location you can see that there are not many leaves left on the deciduous tree. There was some young American Beech trees (Fagus Grandifolia) that were still holding on to some of its dead pale orange leaves.

The leaf litter on the ground is way more packed down than it was the other time I visited. The leaves on the bottom where showing signs of decomposition. There was also more fungus on one of the fallen down logs showing even more signs of decomposition.

As for animal activity there wasn’t any tracks that I could see. I did how ever see a Grey squirrel sitting on the roots of a White pine eating its pine cones.

Over the months of doing this Phenology Blog I learned to really enjoy and appreciate the area I had chosen. One thing that I really enjoy about my spot is the peacefulness that I had experienced just sitting there and existing with the woods.
