Here is link to the route of the train which gives a good description of each region that I traveled through&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.greatjourneysofnz.co.nz\/northern-explorer\/\">https:\/\/www.greatjourneysofnz.co.nz\/northern-explorer\/<\/a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;There is a series of 5 viaducts over which the train goes very slowly and you can stand outside in the observation car for some great pictures.&nbsp;&nbsp;Headphones are provided for a description of what you are seeing along the way.&nbsp;&nbsp;It was a great introduction to how the geography of this beautiful land has shaped it\u2019s people and commerce.
