A long downhill walk,
Following the river,
My feet squelch in the mud,
I cross the bridge to see the colorful muddie buddies sign,
The long grass tickles my ankles as I walk toward it,
A large Norway maple greets me and I hop from the bank,
I land on the island and take out my notebook,
This is my phenology site.

There haven’t been a lot of changes since my last visit. It is the end of fall now and all the leaves are gone. The grass that used to be there is mostly dead, but you can tell it used to be there. It snowed today so I know the river will ice over soon. I saw some animals here recently, a frog and a wooly bear, they will be hibernating by now. The site it starting to get ready for winter!
