Site Introduction

Hello all! My name is Lucy and welcome to my phenology blog! My site is located just off the path near a stream in Centennial woods. My site is right on the edge of a stream, this will be large factor in the ecology of this site. My site is located at the widest part of the stream and there is a little island in the middle. There is also some golden rod growing along the stream edge. There is a large Norway maple (Acer platanoides, Sapindaceae) right in the center of my site. Behind the Norway maple is a stand of glossy buckthorn (Frangula alnus, Rhamnaceae). About 15 feet over from the maple is a dead tree, a snag, covered in bracket fungus. I chose this site because I thought there would a variety of things to examine there. From the stream, to the Norway maple, to the snag, all kinds of life are supported at this site. Im so excited to watch this site change over the course of the next couple months and be able to document it here!
