While I was there we received quite a bit of snow as you can tell by the photos above. This place is very unique area as the fast moving Cattaraugus Creek rips through the land. As the creek rips through, it cuts away more and more land each year. It seems every time I come down to the cabin, our front yard gets significantly smaller due to erosion. Surrounding the creek is a lowland hardwood forest containing woody-like young trees with scarce giant oaks, and you can find evergreens as you increase elevation up the hillside. The vegetation seemed to be not quite into the budding phase as the weather has been cold and snowy. While I was there I was able to spot a few birds far off in the sky, and another specifically caught my attention. It was a bright red Cardinal, these are my favorite birds due to their spiritual significance. It was a very peaceful moment as I stood there and observed the bird. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"473\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/llombar1\/files\/2022\/03\/IMG_8726-473x1024.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-86\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/llombar1\/files\/2022\/03\/IMG_8726-473x1024.png 473w, https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/llombar1\/files\/2022\/03\/IMG_8726-139x300.png 139w, https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/llombar1\/files\/2022\/03\/IMG_8726-768x1662.png 768w, https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/llombar1\/files\/2022\/03\/IMG_8726-710x1536.png 710w, https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/llombar1\/files\/2022\/03\/IMG_8726-946x2048.png 946w, https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/llombar1\/files\/2022\/03\/IMG_8726.png 1242w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 473px) 100vw, 473px\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
For spring break this year, I traveled back home to my cabin in little Zoar Valley, New York.
