Blog #1: Introduction
I chose Redstone Quarry as my phenology spot because of its connection to Redstone campus and its proximity to me. I live on Redstone campus, so getting to know the natural area that built my home is really intriguing to me.
There is a wide variety of vegetation growing around the area. The ground cover is largely mossy, with grass growing intermittently.
Directions
Redstone Quarry is located in southern Burlington. From Redstone Campus, walk south on South Prospect Street and turn right on Ledge Road. There is a small trail located on the left side of the street near the intersection of Iranistan Road and Ledge Road. Just before Hoover Street, there is a small wooden bridge that leads to the Quarry. To reach Redstone Quarry by driving, simply turn onto Hoover Street off of Shelburne Street until you reach the end of the road. There is a small, slightly hidden path that runs along the reeds. Follow the path to the left until you reach the clearing.

The ground cover in the area is mostly mossy, with some grassy spots sprinkled around.
Common woody plants in the area:
- Norway Maple
- Northern White Cedar
- Buckthorn
