Please make sure to cite the source.
1. http://www.japantimes.co.jp/
I found it interesting to find up-to-date articles on the goings-on in Japan.
2. http://www.jnto.go.jp/eng/
This site has a lot of great destination spots that look really
interesting. You can browse by place or by a map, and it gives a lot
of information.
http://www.japanesepod101.com/downloads/ Is a decent Japanese podcast offering lessons between beginner and advanced. There are both video kinds and audio kinds. It tries to get you to sign up but you don’t need to, just set it to download through itunes as a podcast ๐
http://lunchinabox.net/ a great blog by a mom who makes her son a bento every day and takes pictures (and gives how-tos). It’s the first place I saw octodogs (http://lunchinabox.net/2008/02/22/how-to-make-an-octodog-octopus-hot-dog/ ) If you like bento or cute things in general, or even food in general it’s worth taking a peak.
http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/cgi-bin/wwwjdic.cgi?1C
I can’t believe no one has posted this yet. Good Japanese dictionary, very helpful on homework.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search?q=furigana+injector&cat=all
Not a website exactly, but a useful link none the less. If you use Mozilla Firefox this addon gives you the option of displaying furigana above kanji on sites with Japanese text.
http://kanjialive.uchicago.edu/index.htm
This site allows you to download a useful application that runs through Quicktime. It is useful for learning and looking up kanji.
http://www.docoja.com/cgi-bin/databasej?base=kanjig
This is a dictionary of Kanji characters. It is very useful and has multiple ways of searching for kanji. I use it when reading emails and web pages, you can copy the kanji from that, and then use this to find its meaning.
1. http://genkienglish.net/genkijapan/menu.htm
This website has many videos about Japan or has a couple that will teach you a couple of new words in song for. It is fun to look at if your bored sometimes.
2. http://japaneseclass.jp/level1kanji.php
In this website you can sign up and take classes … sort of, to learn japanese. There are lessons, that contain vocab, and kanji. Then lessson tests of course.

http://yokohama.cool.ne.jp/english_/japanese1.html has a bunch of different phrases in Japanese on a variety of subjects. I’m not completely sure how accurate they are, but the site might just be helpful in thinking of things that we should check how to say.
http://www.pitt.edu/~dash/japan.html is a site with lots of different Japanese folktales. I’ve seen some of these stories in Japanese literature, movies, and anime. The translation is really simple and they only take a few minutes to read!

Style Arena is a Tokyo Fashion site! Every week she posts new pictures of the street styles in Omotesando, Ginza, Shibuya, and Harajuku! There are more underground styles too like Visual Kei and Cosplay… It’s really interesting and fun to check out!

Lang-8 is a language exchange site, so, Japanese people might write a journal entry in English, and then people who speak English well correct it! This works the other way around too! People who are just starting Japanese use it, so everyone can sign up for it!
