The lake community association that I belong to is preparing to trap and<br \/>\nkill a local beaver family that has been building a dam on our lake. The<br \/>\nboard members claim that they have been mandated by the state to get rid of<br \/>\nthem. It just seems to me that there may be more humane ways to handle the<br \/>\nbeavers and their dam building activities. Has anyone had any experience<br \/>\nwith this?<\/p>\n<p>Any help would be greatly appreciated!<\/p>\n<p>Kelley A. Essentially, it&#8217;s a tube type of structure which is installed at the bottom of the dam, draining a portion of it into the stream below. The level of water behind the dam is maintained at a height to serve the beavers&#8217; needs, but the streamflow is kept to a level that meets landowner needs and fish needs downstream.
