February; Survival

I visited my spot recently, and was not surprised to see it still covered in snow (mostly ice). There were many old and indiscernible tracks scattered around. I did however manage to see a robin, and a few other birds I did not recognize. I had a very difficult time trying to capture a picture of the robin, and I did not manage to get a half decent photo. The robin is an omnivore that use trees and shrubs for foraging. They adapt well to most spaces available to them (Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department).

There have been little to no phenological changes at my site this past month. Snow has covered the ground since I was last there, and random animal tracks are often found dispersed with no noticeable change.

Phenology part 2

I have chosen a new place for my second semester Phenology blog.

This is my new location. It is a short walk from where I live in Wing/Davis/Wilks.
It is a small wooded area just off campus and near the Burlington country club.
There were many old prints in my place, and this was the best one to make out. My best guess would be a deer.
Here is what I guessed to be a sugar maple twig.
