Final Phenology Post :(

April 25, 2023 by jsamberg

Salmon hole has changed greatly over the years. It started out very green and vegetated. As the fall went on and the winter started to role in, the trees lost their leaves and the normal critters started to show up less and less. Finally, when the snow came in, it offered great opportunities to track animals and see who was poking around salmon hole. The water was very interesting to watch because the water level relied heavily on the amount of water that the weather is giving. For example, this most recent trip to salmon hole, it had been raining all night. This caused the water level to be the highest I have ever seen it. I have become quite familiar with many landmarks around salmon hole. The fire pit right on the island is one of my favorite spots. I find that nature and culture blend together quite well at salmon hole. lots of times, there are people walking, fishing, or just hanging out and enjoying the nature at salmon hole. Finally, after my full year of going to salmon hole, I feel like salmon hole is a part of me and I will definitely be going back to salmon hole for as long as I am in Burlington.
