{"id":118,"date":"2010-07-08T16:02:29","date_gmt":"2010-07-08T20:02:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/drjuliesmithdairyblog.wordpress.com\/?p=118"},"modified":"2011-05-17T11:45:39","modified_gmt":"2011-05-17T15:45:39","slug":"exercising-your-mind","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/jmsmith\/2010\/07\/08\/exercising-your-mind\/","title":{"rendered":"Exercising Your Mind"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A month ago (8 June) at the World Pork Expo in Des Moines, IA, more than 80 attendees representing production agriculture, law enforcement, media, and state and federal governments participated in a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pork.org\/News\/979\/LifelikeDrillHelpsPublicOfficialsandFarmersTestFMDResponse1.aspx\">table-top exercise<\/a> based on a simulated foot-and-mouth disease outbreak. \u00a0Some tabletop exercises merely involve sitting around a table; this one used the three-dimensional model of agricultural facilities that I saw at the <a href=\"http:\/\/drjuliesmithdairyblog.wordpress.com\/2010\/03\/16\/animal-health-emergency-management-tabletop-exercise\/\" target=\"_blank\">National Institute for Animal Agriculture (NIAA) <\/a>meeting in April.
