Symmetry of a Bird

The Symmetry of a Bird’s Call

Imagine each person is a bird–

sit down in a crowded public area

spot a crow, a raven, a nightingale, a lark, and a robin

hear the sound of their footsteps as birdsong

compose lyrics to accompany their twittering melodies.

Sing: song ; unfurl: feathers

never return to that public area.

Imagine the earth were flat

Speak a thought into four jars and seal the lids

Place each jar at each point on a compass

Which way will the Earth tip?

Conversation for Phones and Computers

April 7th, 2020 No comments

by Daniel Reinstein

what do you have that can record sound? (phones, computers, tape recorder, a friend with a good memory)

collect as many as possible (at least 2) and place them around you

hit record on all of them

have a conversation with yourself (or a friend). yell, laugh, whistle, cough, cry.

stop recording

start recording on only one device

hit play on one of the remaining devices, wait 2 seconds, hit play on another

do this until all are playing

talk over them

yell, burp, scream, curse

once the last device has stopped playing, stop recording

send the file to someone who doesn’t need it
