My phenology spot is in Centennial Woods by a part of Centennial Brook. To get there from the University of Vermont’s campus, you start by heading down Carrigan Drive to Catamount Drive. You go all the way down Catamount Drive and end up in a parking lot. The entrance to Centennial Woods is in the back right where you are connected to pathways. I chose this place because I can easily get to Centennial Woods, and I enjoyed going there during our initial self-guided lab. While I was exploring the area to find a specific spot, I felt drawn to the brook and a big tree that had fallen in the area. Along with this big tree, there were smaller fallen trees along the brook as well. This area is very hilly and contains lots of ferns, moss, and other small woody plants. In addition, the area is dense with large trees consisting of black cherry, American beech, eastern hemlock, and northern white oak.
