Common Vegetation

The rocks near the shore are covered in different mosses. The forest is very thickly wooded, there are manny grasses and shrubs which make it difficult to walk through or see. there are manny dogwood shrubs as well as buckthorn and small American crabapples in the understory. as you move up there are manny sugar maples and red oaks.

Phenology introduction

For my phenology location I chose salmon hole. there are a lot of exposed rocks near the shore of the river, as you move up the rocks are covered with more and more moss. the forest generally starts 5-10 m from the shoreline, it is very dense and has a plethora of ground-cover which makes it difficult to walk through. the forest is mainly deciduous trees. there are some birds in the trees as well as squirrels and chipmunks, there is also occasionally a flock of geese bathing in the river or sitting on one of the islands. My Site is located on Winooski river between Burlington and Winooski.
