If you haven\u2019t ordered your coir for the season, now is the time to do so while also taking inventory of other necessary tools and supplies such as w-clips, applicators, and pruners to name a few. Work in the hop yard in Alburgh, VT has picked up with the recent warm weather. We have begun cleaning up our hop yard from any existing debris and supplies have been ordered. As we near the fast approaching season, there are a number of activities that can prepare you in the hop yard if you haven\u2019t done so already. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/hoppenin\/files\/2020\/04\/hopyard-earlyseason.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3366\" width=\"265\" height=\"470\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/hoppenin\/files\/2020\/04\/hopyard-earlyseason.jpg 379w, https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/hoppenin\/files\/2020\/04\/hopyard-earlyseason-169x300.jpg 169w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 265px) 100vw, 265px\" \/><figcaption>Early season in the hop yard. <br \/><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Order necessary supplies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Clean and disinfect tools.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Submit a soil test for fertility guidelines for the upcoming season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Develop a proposed schedule for fertility applications based on these soil test guidelines. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Check irrigation system and patch or replace broken lines and valves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Remove any residual debris from previous season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Repair damaged trellis. &#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Check equipment and perform necessary maintenance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the spring progresses the necessity to prune will arrive quickly as well as the need for stringing plants to set your plants up for success.
