The acclaimed directors from this year’s series explore a number of ways that women struggle with society’s expectations, and how those assumptions affect their personal hopes, dreams, and experiences. By taking an unflinchingly honest look at women in roles such as filmmaker, survivor, teacher, and writer, these directors offer new insights into the female, and ultimately, the human experience.

October 6 Sex Is Comedy (Catherine Breillat, 2002)

November 10 Blackboards (Samira Makhmalbaf, 2000)

February 9 Rosenstrasse (Margarethe Von Trotta, 2003)

March 15 An Angel at My Table (Jane Campion, 1990)

This year’s poster:

2010-2011 UVM Film Series Poster

The UVM Film Series had a very successful first year! The UVM Film Series is a collaboration between Film and Television studies, the Lane Series, and the Fleming Museum of Art. Each year we will screen four or more films on campus with a preceding lecture and a following Q&A. The films will be grouped […]

["post-122","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry
["GET
