Foley Memorial Award<\/p>\n<p>The Dugan A. Foley Memorial Award is given each year to an outstanding junior in Film and Television Studies.\u00a0 The award is in memory of a dearly loved UVM student who minored in the program and died suddenly in her junior year in the summer of 1995. \u00a0Dugan was genuine, passionate and radiant.\u00a0 Fortunately for us, Dugan\u2019s mother Dixie Foley O\u2019Connor, set up this memorial in collaboration with Dugan\u2019s Professor at that time Frank Manchel so that other film students might benefit from Dugan\u2019s spirit.<\/p>\n<p>Teaching holds some extraordinary rewards and one of the most treasured is the chance to meet young people like this years recipient of the Dugan A. Foley Memorial Award.\u00a0 The award is determined by a committee who chooses the student who is at once the outstanding junior major, and the junior who best approximates the fighting spirit of Dugan Foley.
