For my Phenology spot I chose centennial woods since its so easy to access and such a pristine natural environment. I chose my spot by finding the high ground so that my phenology spot can be more easily defended from attack. I also chose it because I saw a lot of evidence of wild life. Woodpecker holes riddled many of the large pine trees, and bird’s nest sat high in their branches. I saw a fisher cat dart into his home when I rolled up on the scene. The largest trees in my area were pine and the largest of those were dead making for optimal observational seating. The Plant diversity at my spot is very high. Other trees found in the immediate area include red and sugar maple, black cherry trees, a few large beech trees, a number of woody shrubs including barberry and buckthorn, as well as many ferns.
