Charlie and I filled out an application for this independent study during the summer of 2005. We wrote,” This independent study will focus on researching the traits and learning styles of the “millennial” students, born after 1982, and their expectations for learning in the college environment, as well as their own preferred learning styles. Diana Oblinger outlines the Millennials learning preferences, in her article, Boomers, Gen-Xers and Millennials: Understanding the New students,as teamwork, experiental activities, structure, and the use of technology.(Educause Review, July/August 2003)I will gather data from the reading on the characteristics of the millennial student and create a pre and post assessment tool for the students in edel 24.”
