There are two<br \/>\nclasses of participants in the OAI-PMH<br \/>\nframework: Data Providers and Service Providers. Data Providers<br \/>\nadminister systems that support the OAI-PMH<br \/>\nas a means of exposing metadata from digital collections or<br \/>\nrepositories; while Service Providers use metadata harvested<br \/>\nvia the OAI-PMH as a basis for building value-added services.
