A consortium of over 70 public and private research institutes across the human and computer sciences.&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uchri.org\/page-home.php?page_id=1289&amp;cat_id=2\">This year&#8217;s conference<\/a> has an interesting addition to their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uchri.org\/page-home.php?page_id=1291&amp;cat_id=2\">Call for Proposals<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;In addition to filling out an application, participants will be required to provide a URL for their project and\/or make a <strong>two minute video of their proposal<\/strong>, upload it to YouTube and tag the YouTube video with &#8220;HASTAC2008.&#8221;\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>They&#8217;re not the only ones thinking about YouTube as a scholarly tool. The Chronicle of Higher Education&#8217;s article \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/chronicle.com\/free\/2008\/01\/1159n.htm\">Thanks to YouTube, Professors Are Finding New Audiences<\/a>,\u201d reports that &#8220;public intellectualism&#8221; is alive and well.
