Phenology Project Location Announcement

While trying to think of a ‘perfect’ location to choose for my phenology project, I reflected on all of the locations of the previous NR1 labs. Potash Brook stuck out to me because of its natural beauty, but also its proximity to an area full of businesses and human activity. I wanted to learn more about how humans impacted this environment throughout the seasons and witness these impacts and changes myself. With that being said, I have decided to choose Potash Brook (specifically the part of the Brook that passes through the East Woods Natural area) as my location to phonologically study over the next year. Throughout the year, I will be getting to the natural area via public transportation or Uber/Lyft. I will be providing my own images taken on my DSLR camera and the observations and notes I take with each post. As seen in the image I took above, Potash Brook has a variety of vegetation surrounding the area. Some of the woody vegetation includes Sugar Maples, Eastern Hemlocks, American Beeches, and Eastern White Pines. Below is both an image and the hyperlink of the Google Map I created of the location. My site is marked by the blue pin in the map. I look forward to further studying and examining this natural area over the next year.
