NR 311| Shelburne Farms, VT

We are delighted to welcome you to the greater Burlington, Vermont area for the inaugural course for the MSLS Concentration, NR311 Leadership for Sustainability. This residential/on-line hybrid course will introduce many of the essential questions and core leadership practices of this 2-year program.  More information about this course is described below including a welcome letter, general programmatic information, and a handful of tasks that will help us prepare to get the most out of our time together.

  1. Welcome Letter (Google Doc version; .pdf here).
  2. Pre-retreat Questionnaire: Please fill out this NR311 Retreat Questionnaire and Health Form.  It will provide us information about dietary restrictions, lodging preferences, and also contains a health form for Shelburne Farms (the site of our first residential experience). To download the .pdf, right click on the link and hit “Save Link As…”  You can fill the form out right on your computer and type in your ‘e-signature’ at the bottom (don’t forget to save after putting in your info!).  Please email Emil (etsao@uvm.edu) a copy by August 1st.
  3. Media Release Form: As the inaugural cohort for this program, we are hoping to capture some photo and video footage of the experience to share with each other and use in future promotional and educational materials. If you are willing, please fill out this Media Release Form and email it to Emil by August 1st.
  4. Ride Share: Please add your travel information to this Google Sheet which is designed to help you coordinate travel plans and car sharing to cut down on costs and cars.  Please note that you are responsible for coordinating your own travel plans to and from Shelburne Farms.  The welcome letter has additional travel info that may be helpful as you make your plans.
  5. Pre-retreat Course Module: In preparation for our time together, the MSLS facilitation team is pulling together a short learning module that will include some readings, content and exercises that will allow us to make best use of our time together. This module will be available by mid-July, providing you ample time to complete it in advance of our residential experience. We will send you additional information when it is ready.
  6. Retreat Agenda: In the next two weeks, we’ll be uploading an in-depth residential program agenda that will have more day-to-day activity information.
