Located on the Long Island Sound, this beach, like all of the north shore beaches, is extremely rocky from the remaining glacial debris. The waves on this side of the island are significantly smaller than the south shore, thus the rocks aren’t facing much erosion. For this reason, it is great for swimming and paddle boarding in the summer months. The specific spot of this beach that I chose is along the walking path, and past a few abandoned huts. It is situated between the maritime shrubland of the upper beach and the water itself, surrounded by plentiful beachgrass. During this time of the year, it is perfect for scenic walks and picnics. When it is too cold to sit on the windy beach, you will still find people sitting in their cars to watch the sunset. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"473\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/erussel3\/files\/2022\/11\/IMG_5839-1-473x1024.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-57\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/erussel3\/files\/2022\/11\/IMG_5839-1-473x1024.png 473w, https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/erussel3\/files\/2022\/11\/IMG_5839-1-139x300.png 139w, https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/erussel3\/files\/2022\/11\/IMG_5839-1-768x1662.png 768w, https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/erussel3\/files\/2022\/11\/IMG_5839-1-710x1536.png 710w, https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/erussel3\/files\/2022\/11\/IMG_5839-1-946x2048.png 946w, https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/erussel3\/files\/2022\/11\/IMG_5839-1.png 1170w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 473px) 100vw, 473px\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Only a short drive north from my house, West Meadow Beach is one of my favorite spots to go all throughout the year.
