{"id":96,"date":"2012-12-19T10:09:33","date_gmt":"2012-12-19T15:09:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/envs\/?p=96"},"modified":"2012-12-19T10:09:33","modified_gmt":"2012-12-19T15:09:33","slug":"bard-cep-position-teaching-assistant-for-gis-spring-2013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/envs\/2012\/12\/19\/bard-cep-position-teaching-assistant-for-gis-spring-2013\/","title":{"rendered":"Bard CEP Position: Teaching Assistant for GIS, Spring 2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif\">Teaching Assistant for Introduction to Geographic Information Systems<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif\">The Bard Center for Environmental Policy \u00a0in Annandale-on-Hudson NY is seeking a teaching assistant for\u00a0<em>GIS: Tools for Analysis <\/em>class spring semester 2013.\u00a0 This is a unique opportunity to teach students in a Masters of Environmental Policy or Masters in Climate Science and Policy program how to employ spatial analysis and mapping into their research.\u00a0 This position requires someone with strong capabilities in GIS and spatial analysis as well as a person with great communication and teaching skills. \u00a0The teaching assistant will work with the instructor during two sections of the course on Wednesdays throughout the Spring 2013 semester.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif\">Desired skills include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif\">\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Experience using ESRI\u2019s ArcGIS suite of software including the Spatial, 3D, Network and Geostatistical Analyst extensions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif\">\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Familiarity with open source GIS tools such as QGIS and GeoData.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif\">\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Ability to produce high quality cartographic products.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif\">\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Experience using GPS to conduct spatial data inventories.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif\">\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Familiarity with local, regional, national and global environmental issues.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif\">To apply, send a cover letter, CV and names and contact information for three references by e-mail only to jofrench@bard.edu.
