{"id":534,"date":"2013-10-24T09:49:42","date_gmt":"2013-10-24T13:49:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/envs\/?p=534"},"modified":"2013-10-24T09:49:42","modified_gmt":"2013-10-24T13:49:42","slug":"job-vermont-energy-education-program-educator","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/envs\/2013\/10\/24\/job-vermont-energy-education-program-educator\/","title":{"rendered":"JOB: Vermont Energy Education Program Educator"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>VEEP is looking for an experienced science\/environmental educator to bring its hands-on, science-based energy literacy programs to Vermont schools and communities in Northwestern Vermont\/<\/p>\n<p>Help students &amp; the public learn about energy, using VEEP\u2019s in-class presentations and associated kits.\u00a0 Our methods are designed to engage students and the public to teach about what energy is, and how to use it efficiently.<\/p>\n<p>You will also promote these programs to teachers and schools in the region, and support other VEEP programs, such as the Whole School Energy Challenge.\u00a0 For more info about VEEP\u2019s in-class presentations, curricula and other programs see: www.veep.org\/veep-programs.html.<\/p>\n<p>This part-time position (12-16 hrs.\/week, less in summer) serves schools in Chittenden, Franklin and Grand Isle counties, with flexible scheduling.\u00a0 (Possibility of additional hours depending on additional <a id=\"FALINK_1_0_0\" href=\"#\">grant funding<\/a> in 2014.)\u00a0 A minimum of a BA\/BS and 2+ years\u2019 experience in teaching science content and\/or environmental topics is required, along with a valid drivers\u2019 license and access to a reliable vehicle for frequent on-the-job travel.\u00a0 You must also connect well with kids and professionals, have excellent presentation, speaking and writing skills, be well-organized and self-motivated.<\/p>\n<p>This is a \u2018work from home\u2019 position, so a telephone &amp; access to a computer w\/ hi-speed internet is required.\u00a0 Educators must be available during school hours Monday &#8211; Friday, with occasional public events on evenings and weekends. Scheduling is flexible, but you must be responsive &amp; available to needs of teachers and community groups.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PLEASE NOTE:<\/strong> Applicants living within Chittenden, Grand Isle or Franklin County will be given preference.
