{"id":299,"date":"2013-04-08T13:55:50","date_gmt":"2013-04-08T17:55:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/envs\/?p=299"},"modified":"2013-04-08T13:55:50","modified_gmt":"2013-04-08T17:55:50","slug":"jobs-progressive-campaign-job-opportunities-for-graduating-seniors-nationwide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/envs\/2013\/04\/08\/jobs-progressive-campaign-job-opportunities-for-graduating-seniors-nationwide\/","title":{"rendered":"JOBS: Progressive Campaign Job Opportunities for Graduating Seniors \u2013 Nationwide!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Grassroots Campaigns is currently hiring Assistant Canvass Directors to run field campaigns on behalf of issue based organizations like Oxfam America, ACLU, The Nature Conservancy, and the Southern Poverty Law Center.<\/p>\n<p>Grassroots Campaigns is looking to interview top students to join our teams as <b>Assistant Canvass Directors<\/b>!\u00a0 There is no better time get involved and shape the next generation of activists that will take this country in a more progressive direction and see change on issues that matter now.<\/p>\n<p>Students who are interested should apply directly to:<\/p>\n<p>Mac Smith<br \/>\nmsmith@grassrootscampaigns.com<br \/>\n(917) 856-9804<\/p>\n<p>Mac will be holding informational interviews at the University of Vermont Tuesday, April 2<sup>nd<\/sup>, through Thursday, April 4<sup>th<\/sup>, 2013.\u00a0 This is an excellent way for you to learn more about the opportunities before a potential interview and hear about the positions available first-hand.\u00a0 Mac encourages all to attend, and <b>bring a friend<\/b>!<\/p>\n<p><b>Job Responsibilities:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Recruitment<\/span>:\u00a0 Build a team of 15-50 canvassers by recruiting from within the local community.\u00a0 Interview prospective staff and make hiring decisions.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Staff Management<\/span>:\u00a0 Teach canvassing\/fundraising skills.\u00a0 Work with your staff in individual and group settings, with a particular eye towards developing leaders.\u00a0 Cultivate a welcoming and motivating atmosphere.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Canvassing<\/span>:\u00a0 Canvass in the field for four days per week, to train new and experienced staff in the field and meet personal fundraising requirements.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Administration<\/span>:\u00a0 Carefully track income and expenses.\u00a0 Manage the budget for your office.\u00a0 Process staff payroll.\u00a0 Maintain records for future organizing efforts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Qualifications:<br \/>\n<\/b>Strong communication and motivational skills, work ethic, and desire for political change are essential.\u00a0 Candidates must be able to work within a team, have proven leadership ability and experience handling a lot of responsibility. Strong self-direction and the ability to take initiative are also necessary qualifications.
