A naturalist adventure like no other.

This trip is based on the epic adventures of the great naturalists, taking inspiration from John Muir’s hikes along the craggy peaks of the Eastern Sierras and Mark Twain’s famous trips on the Mississippi River. We’ll devote equal time to natural history, primitive skills, and the pure enjoyment of being out in the wilds of Vermont. Our trip will take us to Mt Mansfield, the highest peak in Vermont, and then over 4000 scenic feet in elevation down to Lake Champlain, the lowest place in Vermont. Our days will be spent hiking, paddling, and learning primitive skills (like fire-by-friction), and natural history to develop a deeper understanding of the landscape of Vermont.

The VERMONT 4000’ BACK COUNTRY NAVIGATION + MULTI-DAY CANOE TRIP LANDSCAPE INTERPRETATION + EDIBLE & MEDICINAL PLANTS ANIMAL TRACKING + PRIMITIVE FIRE-MAKING Who: Ages 18-25 When: May 27 to June 4, 2013 Where: 36 mile hike on The Long Trail … Continue reading →

[46474,46462

post-211","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-beyond-uvm","category-east-coast
["GET
