We had heard of this machine first from Jean-Paul Courtens (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.roxburyfarm.com\/\">Roxbury Farm<\/a>,)\u00a0and saw via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/sassafras_creek_farm\/\">Instagram <\/a>that Dave Paulk also recently got one at <a href=\"http:\/\/sassafrascreekfarm.com\/\">Sassafras Creek Farm<\/a>.\u00a0 I happened to be down in Maryland attending the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uvm.edu\/extension\/necafs\">NECAFS <\/a>Annual Meeting so I reached out to Dave while I was in the area to see if I could go take a look!<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1128\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1128\" style=\"width: 343px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/cwcallah\/files\/2018\/02\/IMG_9076.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1128\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/cwcallah\/files\/2018\/02\/IMG_9076.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"343\" height=\"193\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/cwcallah\/files\/2018\/02\/IMG_9076.jpg 6000w, https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/cwcallah\/files\/2018\/02\/IMG_9076-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/cwcallah\/files\/2018\/02\/IMG_9076-768x431.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/cwcallah\/files\/2018\/02\/IMG_9076-1024x575.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 343px) 100vw, 343px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1128\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Clean sweet potatoes coming off the line<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Dave welcomed us to his farm and graciously\u00a0gave us a complete demo of the AZS Rinse Conveyor. Knowing that other farmers\u00a0in the small-scale vegetable operations are interested in this type of equipment, we took the opportunity\u00a0to capture his review of the machine to share with others. Dave also walked through the in&#8217;s, out&#8217;s and details of how this thing works. He&#8217;s only had it for a few weeks at the time of our visit and fully understands how it all works, now he&#8217;s just dialing in the optimum settings of pressures, speeds, and water flow to provide the best performance and efficiencies on individual types of crops.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I do like the versatility of the AZS. Next to a new pack shed and walk-in coolers I think it&#8217;s one of the best labor saving tools we&#8217;ve bought. Especially if the farm wants to increase bulk storage crop production for small-scale diversity.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Here is a link to the playlist of videos, the first couple explains how it works, then you get to see it in action, and at the end how easy it is to clean it up once you&#8217;re done for the day.
