{"id":1521,"date":"2015-04-28T12:24:09","date_gmt":"2015-04-28T16:24:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/ctl\/?p=1521"},"modified":"2015-04-28T14:36:16","modified_gmt":"2015-04-28T18:36:16","slug":"common-bb-grade-center-gotcha","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/ctl\/2015\/04\/28\/common-bb-grade-center-gotcha\/","title":{"rendered":"Common Bb Grade Center &#8220;Gotcha&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There&#8217;s a complaint\u00a0that we hear\u00a0frequently this time of the semester:<\/p>\n<p><strong>The weighted column doesn&#8217;t come out right.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a common problem caused by that tiny Devil who resides\u00a0in the details. Very\u00a0often,\u00a0the cause is this: a discrepancy between\u00a0a column&#8217;s possible points and those actually entered. \u00a0In other words, when you first set up grading on a tool (or on a manually-made column), you might have assigned\u00a0the\u00a0highest possible points as something different than what you actually graded for. An\u00a0example would be,\u00a0I have\u00a0entered 30 as possible points on a final paper,\u00a0but forgetting this weeks later, I\u00a0used a base of 100 when grading.<\/p>\n<p>This is easy to check by hovering over the top of the column and checking\u00a0the information that appears just at the top of the grade center area.
