During the BioBlitz, I chose to explore parts of Centennial Woods that I’d never seen before. My experience using INaturalist was pretty smooth and I really liked being able to see the observations that my friends in my lab made on our labs page. I made 32 observations during the time that I spent in the woods, many being ferns or other plants but I was able to find a few birds and a butterfly. Something I found particularly interesting about other cities is how some cities had such a high concentration of observations while other areas around them had very few. Examples of this include Cape Town, Madrid, and Moscow and it raised the question of why the City Nature Challenge was so popular in these places and how we promote this challenge in the future so people in other cities will become more engaged.
