I noticed that they were around 2 inches long and had tiny claws and narrow toes as you can see in the image above. This led me to the conclusion that they belonged to a grey squirrel. The tracks also led to multiple trees which further justifies this claim. I did spot one squirrel running but I was not able to get a good picture before it ran away back into the bushes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/ckelly27\/files\/2022\/02\/BB97C482-3144-49A3-B7ED-947DB65F450F-768x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-54\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/ckelly27\/files\/2022\/02\/BB97C482-3144-49A3-B7ED-947DB65F450F-768x1024.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/ckelly27\/files\/2022\/02\/BB97C482-3144-49A3-B7ED-947DB65F450F-225x300.jpeg 225w, https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/ckelly27\/files\/2022\/02\/BB97C482-3144-49A3-B7ED-947DB65F450F-1152x1536.jpeg 1152w, https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/ckelly27\/files\/2022\/02\/BB97C482-3144-49A3-B7ED-947DB65F450F-1536x2048.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/ckelly27\/files\/2022\/02\/BB97C482-3144-49A3-B7ED-947DB65F450F-1568x2091.jpeg 1568w, https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/ckelly27\/files\/2022\/02\/BB97C482-3144-49A3-B7ED-947DB65F450F-scaled.jpeg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
Many of the shrubs and plants here were dead, including this rhododendron which I identified using iNaturalist.
