There are also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uvm.edu\/cals\/pss\/undergraduate-research\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">credit-based opportunities directly though ALE<\/a>. If you are interested in pursuing these opportunities and are seeking a faculty mentor, feel free to <a href=\"mailto:cfrank@uvm.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">contact me<\/a> to discuss your goals. I currently do not offer graduate assistantships. Seeking a self-motivated individual to assist with a research project that examines the insect community associated with <a and outputs with direction from Dr. Sullivan.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collection of insect specimens from traps placed within habitat plantings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Processing of collected insects (identification, sorting, pinning).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Visual assessment of insects visiting habitat plantings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Data analysis, synthesis, and for ticks at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uvm.edu\/cals\/uvm-horticulture-research-and-education-center-hrec\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.uvm.edu\/cals\/uvm-horticulture-research-and-education-center-hrec\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">UVM HREC<\/a> during the fall semester as part of an ongoing wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several exciting opportunities to isolate entomopathogenic fungi or test commercial products against key agricultural pests (thrips, aphids, whiteflies, etc.) and ticks!!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\"><div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full Details:<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These positions are either located in Jeffords Hall or a short distance off-campus at the Bioresearch Complex, 661 Spear Street (just past the UVM Farm). It is within walking distance, but a bike or vehicle is helpful to get here. Blocks of time (4-6 hours) are <strong>required<\/strong> at least 1x\/week between the hours of 8am-5pm, M-F to align with the operating hours of the lab. These opportunities are open to all students across the University, but emphasizes topics aligned with CALS programs. Enrollment is by instructor permission. Applicants should plan on spending forty hours of effort per each credit hour.
