Drafting a resume can be daunting, but if you\u2019re not going to take the time to do it well, don\u2019t bother at all. Competition is tough out there, so get it right.<\/p>\n
Here are a few things to consider:<\/p>\n
Limit the experience you include<\/strong><\/p>\n Only include the most relevant work experience, the stuff that pertains to job your trying to get.\u00a0 Each application you write should be tailored specifically to that position.<\/p>\n <\/strong><\/p>\n Make an impression with your verb selection<\/strong><\/p>\n When describing work experience, choose verbs that pack a punch. Such phrases as \u201cworked on,\u201d or \u201ccontributed to,\u201d won\u2019t impress. Lead with something that allows your work to stand out like \u201c designed,\u201d or \u201cimplemented.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/strong><\/p>\n Typos are your worst enemy<\/strong><\/p>\n Granted we all make mistakes, but no hiring manager is going to be impressed if your resume is ridden with spelling errors. It pins you as careless, even lazy. Take the time to check, double check and triple check your work.\u00a0 And it never hurt to get a second pair of eyes to go over your stuff.<\/p>\n Formatting is imperative<\/strong><\/p>\n Are your margins even? Bullets lined up? Have you included dates and headings in a consistent way? Is it easy to read and visually appealing? Be mindful of all these point.
