{"id":51,"date":"2017-07-21T16:19:13","date_gmt":"2017-07-21T20:19:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/cap\/?p=51"},"modified":"2018-09-04T10:28:20","modified_gmt":"2018-09-04T14:28:20","slug":"vt-scam-alert-system-is-live","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/cap\/vt-scam-alert-system-is-live\/","title":{"rendered":"VT Scam Alert System is Live"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last week our office sent out the first scam alert through the VT Alert System to warn Vermonters about an active utility disconnection phone scam (<a href=\"http:\/\/files.vtalert.gov\/Public\/DownloadAudio.aspx?parentid=3599069&amp;type=6\">listen to the alert here<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>This exciting program started three weeks ago when the Attorney General\u2019s Office partnered with Vermont Emergency Management to use their existing \u201cVT Alert\u201d emergency notification system. The system lets you get instant alerts by email, text message, or a phone message. We\u2019ll be using this system to alert Vermonters about scams going around the state. You must sign up to get these alerts. \u00a0So far, 677 people have signed up through our website and over 3100 signed up through the VT Alert portal!<\/p>\n<p>We don\u2019t want to send out too many alerts, so we\u2019ll only use the system to let you know about scams that are new, have changed, or are happening most often. We also might send you alerts about scams that are happening in your town or county specifically.<\/p>\n<p>Signing up is free and easy. Call us at 802-656-3183 or 1-800-649-2424 (toll-free from a VT phone).
